Galeforce 20 (Wild Wind 20, Rinker 20)

Description

The Galeforce 20 (also known as the Gale Force 20, Wild Wind 20, or Rinker 20) is a compact, trailerable recreational keelboat/cruiser designed as a shoal-draft daysailer and weekend cruiser for protected waters and light coastal use. It was built by Gale Force Yachts (a short-lived sailboat division of powerboat manufacturer Rinkerbuilt Co., now part of Rinker Boats under Polaris Industries) in Syracuse, Indiana, USA, starting in 1982 (production limited to roughly 1981–1982 or a few years at most). Fiberglass construction with a swing keel (centerboard-style for easy trailering and shallow access), fractional sloop rig, and light displacement make it nimble, easy to launch/handle single-handed, and surprisingly capable for its size—owners note good pointing ability, directional stability, and fun performance in moderate conditions (e.g., with a 120% genoa or spinnaker). The interior is basic (V-berth forward, small saloon, possible quarter berths or open layout sleeping 2–4, enclosed head optional) but practical for overnighting. Production was very low volume (exact hull count unknown but scarce today), and it's unrelated to larger "Gale Force" designs or other brands.
