Fulmar 32
Description
The Fulmar 32 (commonly known as the Westerly Fulmar 32) is a highly regarded British performance cruiser-racer designed by Ed Dubois (of Dubois Naval Architects) and built by Westerly Marine Construction Ltd. (UK) from 1979/1980 to 1992, with approximately 437 hulls produced (making it one of Westerly's more successful models from that era). This fiberglass monohull emphasizes fast, balanced sailing with vice-free handling, excellent manners (light tiller feel, good balance, and straight tracking), and solid seaworthiness—ideal for club racing, match training, or family coastal/offshore cruising. It features a fractional sloop rig (some variants listed as masthead), fin keel with spade rudder (standard), twin/bilge keel options (draft ~4.0 ft / 1.22 m for shallower access), and a few rare lifting keel versions. The interior is practical and comfortable (5–6 berths in 2 cabins: V-berth forward, saloon settees, galley, enclosed head, quarter berths; headroom ~6'1"–6'2"), with teak trim typical of Westerlys; auxiliary power is usually a small diesel (e.g., Volvo Penta or Bukh 18–24 hp). Owners and reviews often call it one of Westerly's best boats—lively yet forgiving, with strong light-air performance from its generous sail plan.
