Fraser 51

Fraser 51

Description

The Fraser 51 is a rare, high-quality bluewater performance cruiser (cutter rig) built as a semi-custom yacht in the mid-1980s to early 1990s. It was designed by Douglas Cook (a Canadian naval architect known for several Fraser-series designs) and constructed by De Kleer Brothers Industries Ltd. (Richmond, BC, Canada), with molds built by Gene Rufer. Only a handful were produced (estimates around 5 hulls from the De Kleers, plus possible others under similar Fraser branding), making it extremely scarce on the market. The Fraser 51 was built as a no-nonsense, ocean-passage-making cutter—emphasizing strong construction, elegant lines, and high standards for long-distance cruising. It's a fin-keel, masthead sloop (some cutter configs) with a reputation for excellent performance, stability, and comfort (spacious teak interior, good headroom, multiple cabins in some layouts).
