Footloose

Description

The Footloose is a versatile 15-foot plywood sailing skiff designed by Oregon-based naval architect and boatbuilder Warren Jordan in the late 1990s, blending the timeless lines of a traditional flattie skiff with modern stitch-and-glue plywood construction for easy homebuilding and trailering. Inspired by Jordan's childhood explorations of West Coast saltwater estuaries, it's a multipurpose daysailer and tender that excels at rowing, sailing, fishing, crabbing, clamming, and beach camping—shallow draft allows beaching in remote backwaters, while its stable hull handles light chop and family outings. Over 100+ have been built by amateurs since plans debuted, praised for simplicity (no lofting required) and "salty good looks" that evoke classic wooden workboats without the maintenance hassle. It's a staple in small-boat communities like the Western Oregon Messabouts (Coots), where owners share tales of kid-safe sails and estuary adventures.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
