Flying Dutchman (Contest Dinghy)
Description
The Flying Dutchman, often referred to as the Contest Dinghy in the context of Contest Yachts (Conyplex), is a high-performance, two-person racing dinghy designed by Uus van Essen and Conrad Gülcher in 1951. It was the first boat produced by Conyplex when the company was founded in 1959 in Medemblik, Netherlands, marking their entry into fiberglass boatbuilding. The Flying Dutchman was an Olympic-class dinghy from 1960 to 1992 and remains a competitive racing class today.
