Description
The Feeling 286 (also known as the Kirie Feeling 286 or Feeling 286 S) is a compact French cruiser-racer built by Kirie (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) from 1986 to 1995, with around 280–300 hulls produced. Designed by Gilles Vaton (Vaton Design), it's a modern (for its time) masthead sloop emphasizing light-to-moderate wind performance, spacious interior volume (especially in the "Special" or owners version with a large aft cabin), and affordability—popular in Europe (especially France/Med charter fleets) and some UK/East Coast examples. It's a beamy, relatively light boat with good light-air speed but can slam in short chop or get twitchy in heavy weather if not reefed early. The "Special" variant (single large aft cabin, proper chart table) is more common in private ownership, while charter versions often had twin aft cabins and 8 berths (squeezed). Many have wing/shoal keels for shallower draft.
