Farrier Eagle Trimaran
Description
The Farrier Eagle Trimaran (also known as the Eagle or Eagle Tramp) is a rare, high-performance folding trimaran sailboat designed by the legendary multihull pioneer Ian Farrier in the early 1980s. Built primarily by Pyramid International in the United States as a licensed adaptation of Farrier's Australian Tramp design (1979–1982), the Eagle was marketed as an affordable entry into folding trimaran sailing, emphasizing speed, trailering ease, and simplicity for racing or coastal cruising. Only ~20–30 units were produced, making it one of Farrier's least common early models. It features Farrier's patented folding beam system (amas fold inward in seconds without tools), a lightweight construction, and a fractional sloop rig—capable of planning at 15–18 knots in ideal conditions. The Eagle is essentially the U.S. production version of the Tramp, with minor adaptations for American builders, and served as a precursor to Farrier's iconic F-27.
