Falmouth Cutter 22
Description
Falmouth Cutter 22—pocket blue water legend. Lyle Hess design from the seventies, built by Sam Morse (BCC fame) in fiberglass: 22 feet LOA, 21 on the waterline, 8-foot beam, full keel with 3,000 pounds displacement, 1,200 ballast. Draft 3.5 feet, gaff cutter rig, 250 square feet sail—mainsail, staysail, yankee, optional topsail. Interior? V-berth forward, settees saloon, galley starboard, head port, quarter berth aft—sleeps two comfy, four in a pinch. Bristol Channel Cutter's little sister: same wineglass transom, same bombproof build, same "go anywhere" attitude. Cruises at 5 knots, heaves-to like a dream in 40 knots.
