Fair Weather Mariner 39
Description
The Fair Weather Mariner 39 (FWM 39) is a long-distance cruising ketch designed by John Sharp and built by John B. Sharp (born ~1940s, active 1970s–present) is a British American naval architect and yacht designer renowned for his blue water cruising sailboats and superyacht engineering. Based in the UK and later the US (San Diego), Sharp's work emphasizes seaworthiness, aluminum construction, and owner-operator comfort. He founded John Sharp Design Ltd. in the 1970s, producing durable, performance-oriented designs for long-distance voyages. His portfolio spans modest 30–40 ft cruisers to custom superyachts over 100 ft, with a focus on GRP and aluminum hulls.) from 1972 to 1980. Only ~25 hulls were produced, making it a rare, cult-classic among blue water sailors. Launched as a “go-anywhere, live-aboard” for couples or small families, it blends heavy-weather stability, spacious teak interior, and moderate performance in a full-keel, GRP hull.
