Farrier F-39
Description
The F-39 (often called the Farrier F-39) is a large, ocean-capable folding trimaran designed by Ian Farrier (the pioneering multihull architect behind the Corsair/Farrier series like the F-24 Mk II). It's an evolution and stretch of the F-36 plans (released in the 1990s), incorporating feedback from F-36 owners and blending elements from earlier designs like the F-31, F-31R, and F-25C. Plans are available for amateur or professional build (typically in composite/foam sandwich, vacuum-infused for lightness and strength), with many self-built examples worldwide. The F-39 emphasizes sport cruising with serious bluewater potential: fast, stable, trailerable (folded beam ~15 ft / 4.57 m for road/lock access), and easy to handle short-handed via the third-generation Farrier Folding System™ (beams fold inward for trailering/storage). It's designed for ocean passages (some have crossed oceans), comfortable liveaboard cruising, or high-performance day/race sailing. Variants include the F-39R (higher-performance sport racer with basic interior, aft cabin or cockpit options) and custom stretches/upgrades (e.g., some hulls built to 39–40 ft overall).
