F 24 MK II (Corsair F-24 Mk II)
Description
The F-24 Mk II (also known as the Corsair F-24 Mk II or Corsair 24 Mk II) is a popular folding trimaran designed by Ian Farrier and built by Corsair Marine (USA) from 1994 to about 2005 (around 350 hulls produced). It's an evolution of the original F-24 Mk I, with key upgrades like a daggerboard (instead of centerboard for better upwind performance and reduced weight), a rotating mast for more power and easier depowering, increased interior volume, a larger cockpit, and refined ama (float) shapes for better lift and stability. This makes the Mk II noticeably faster and more race-oriented while still being trailerable and family-friendly for coastal/day sailing. It's a fractional sloop (with rotating spar) optimized for high performance: planes easily in double-digit winds, hits 15–20+ knots downwind with spinnaker/screecher, and tacks quickly thanks to the daggerboard and light weight. Folding system (Farrier type, double-hinge) reduces beam to ~8 ft for trailering/legal road use. Owners rave about the thrill (often called "addictive" or "rocket ship"), ease of setup (rig in ~20–30 min solo), shallow draft for beaching/exploring, and versatility—great for racing (active class fleets), fast cruising, or lake days.
