Express 35 (Goman Express 35)
Description
The Express 35 (also known as the Express 35 Sloop or Goman Express 35) is a Canadian-built performance cruiser-racer, designed by Steve Killing and first introduced in 1984. It was produced by Goman Boat Limited in Midland, Ontario, with production continuing under Express Yachts after the companies merged in the same facility. This model blends strong sailing performance with elegant cruising comfort, appealing to both ex-racers and long-term cruisers—often praised for its high-quality build, thoughtful details, and value. The Express 35 was aimed at the cruising market while retaining excellent speed and handling (a shift from the more race-focused Express 30 by the same team). It's a masthead sloop with a modern hull shape: raked stem, reverse transom, fin keel, and spade rudder for responsive steering and good upwind pointing. The construction is fiberglass (GRP) with wood trim accents, balsa-cored decks for lightness/strength, and a focus on quality joinery and stowage.
