Eun Na Mara
Description
This is a popular pocket cruiser designed by Scottish naval architect Iain Oughtred in the late 1990s. The name "Eun Na Mara" is Scottish Gaelic for "bird of the sea" (or seabird), evoking its graceful, bird-like lines on the water. It's not a production boat but a set of plans for amateur or professional builders, with over 60 known examples worldwide, many in Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland. Gaff-rigged yawl (main and mizzen masts) with a small jib on a bowsprit. The mainmast steps on deck in a tabernacle for easy lowering; the mizzen is unstayed and steps through the aft deck. A sloop rig option is available. The divided yawl rig keeps the boat balanced and easy to single-hand, especially in breezes—veteran sailors recommend double-reefed main plus staysail for heavy weather.
