Electra Sport 20

Description

The Electra Sport 20 is a sleek, high-performance fractional-rigged sport boat designed by Austrian sailmaker Hubert Raudaschl and Canadian sailor Peter van Rossem and built by Ultra Marine (a division of HPR Finishing in Mississauga, Ontario) starting in 1993. Blending the accessible stability of the Ideal 18 with the adrenaline of the 505 dinghy, it's a lightweight racer-cruiser optimized for one-design fleets, MORC/PHRF racing, and spirited day sailing. At 20 feet LOA, it's trailerable, unsinkable (thanks to foam flotation), and thrilling in 10–25 knot winds—capable of planning at 12–15 knots downwind with its symmetric spinnaker. Over 50 were produced through the 1990s, with a loyal following in Canadian and U.S. Great Lakes fleets. It's praised for its forgiving helm, speed, and simplicity, making it ideal for solo sailors, couples, or racing crews seeking "505-like fun without the wet bum."
