Edel 540 (Edel 5, Edel V, Eel 545)
Description
The Edel 540 (also known as Edel 5, Edel V, or Edel 545 in France) is a compact French/Canadian trailer sailer and daysailer designed by Maurice Edel and built by Construction Nautic Edel in France, with additional production by Edel Canada from 1974 to 1983. Approximately 2,500 hulls were manufactured, making it one of the more successful small keelboats of its era. It features a fractional sloop rig, fixed fin keel (with wide beam for stability), fiberglass construction, and a simple, roomy interior for its size (sleeps 2–4 with reasonable comfort), marketed as an affordable, stable, and versatile boat for family sailing, lake use, or coastal daysailing.
