Drascombe Peter Boat

Drascombe Peter Boat

Description

The Drascombe Peterboat is a traditional, open cockpit dayboat designed by John Watkinson in the early 1960s, serving as the precursor to the Drascombe range, including the Dabber and Longboat. Named after traditional Devon fishing boats, it was first built in wood by Watkinson’s Honnor Marine Ltd. and later in fiberglass (GRP) with wooden spars and trim. Production began in 1963, with the design influencing smaller models like the Lugger and Dabber. The Peterboat is celebrated for its classic lines, shallow-draft versatility, and seaworthiness, making it ideal for coastal cruising, fishing, or family outings in estuaries and sheltered waters. While less common than other Drascombes, it remains a niche favorite among traditional boat enthusiasts.
