Drascombe Longboat
Description
Browsed https://www.drascombe.uk/longboatOverview The Drascombe Longboat is a versatile, open-cockpit trailer-sailor from the iconic Drascombe range, designed by British naval architect John Watkinson in 1969. It's essentially a stretched version of the popular Drascombe Lugger, offering more space while retaining the family's hallmark blend of traditional styling, ease of handling, and seaworthiness in coastal waters. Built primarily in fiberglass (GRP) with wooden spars and trim, it was first produced by Honnor Marine Ltd. in 1970 and continues under Churchouse Boats Ltd. Known for its stability and roomy cockpit, the Longboat is favored by sailing schools, disability groups (e.g., Sailability programs), and families for day outings, fishing, or gentle exploration. Over hundreds have been built, emphasizing simplicity, safety, and fun without the need for a boom on the mainsail in its standard yawl rig.
