Contour 34
Description
The Contour 34 (often listed as Contour 34 SC for "Sport Cruiser") is a folding trimaran sailboat produced by Contour Yachts (Canada) in the 1990s, designed by Cole Beadon. It's renowned for blending high performance, trailerability, and surprising interior comfort in a multihull package—capable of speeds well over 20 knots while remaining easy to handle, including single-handed setups. Unlike the monohull Contessa designs (like the 35 or 43 you asked about earlier), the Contour series shifts to trimaran architecture with retractable amas (outer hulls) that fold inward for trailering or marina berthing (reducing beam from ~24 ft to ~12–13 ft). This makes it highly practical for owners who want fast sailing without permanent wide-beam mooring issues. The boat excels as a sport cruiser—fast in light winds, stable (minimal heeling, often <10°), shallow draft when boards/amas are up, and great for coastal/offshore passages or even Bahamas-style cruising. It's lighter and quicker than comparable monohulls, with owners reporting doubled effective cruising range due to speed.
