Compromis 888
Description
The Compromis 888 is a popular Dutch family cruiser designed by renowned naval architect Frans Maas and built by Jachtwerf Zaadnoordijk BV (later associated with Compromis/C-Yacht branding) in the Netherlands from 1989 onward (production spanning the 1990s into the early 2000s). It was part of a successful series (including the similar 777 and 999 models) where over 1,000 hulls across the family were produced, with the 888 being a strong seller thanks to its practical, seaworthy design—featuring solid fiberglass construction, a fin keel with spade rudder for responsive handling, moderate displacement for comfortable motion, a spacious and well-laid-out interior (typically 2 cabins, 4–6 berths, galley, enclosed head with shower, and good headroom ~1.9 m), easy-to-manage masthead sloop rig suitable for short-handed or family sailing, and proven reliability for coastal cruising, weekend trips, and occasional offshore passages in northern European waters.
