Chrysler Mutineer / Spindrift 15

Description

The Chrysler Mutineer, more commonly known as the Mutineer 15, is a compact, fractional sloop designed by Rod Macalpine-Downie and Dick Gibbs in 1971 as a smaller, more affordable sibling to their earlier Buccaneer 18. Built initially by Chrysler's Marine division in Plano, Texas, it was aimed at club racing and family day sailing. Over 6,000 units were produced by Chrysler from 1971 to 1980, making it one of the most prolific small sailboats of its era. The design incorporated innovative features for the time, such as a roller-furling jib, spinnaker rigging with a foredeck launcher tube, hiking straps, and a boom vang, blending performance with ease of use. After Chrysler's financial restructuring in 1980, production continued under various builders (Texas Marine Industries 1981-1982, Wellcraft as the Starwind 15 in 1982-1984, Gloucester Yachts as the Gloucester 15 in 1984-1987, Cardinal Yachts until 2003, and currently Nickels Boat Works since 2003 with updated molds). It's a lively, planning hull ideal for two-person racing or casual outings with up to four people, but it's tender in strong winds and best suited for inland waters rather than open ocean.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
