Cheetah 30

Cheetah 30

Description

The Cheetah 30 is an ultralight, high-performance trailerable sailboat designed by Bob Ames (of Bob Ames Naval Architecture), built in very limited numbers by Cheetah International (Greenwich, CT) primarily in 1995–1996, with production likely consisting of only a handful of hulls (estimates suggest fewer than 10–20 total, as it was a short-run, innovative project rather than mass-produced); it features a revolutionary (for its era) retractable/lifting keel for variable draft, water ballast for stability and performance optimization, a narrow beam optimized for upright trailering (especially in Europe), a fractional sloop rig emphasizing speed and affordability, easy water access (beachability), and a minimalist sportboat-oriented layout focused on high performance over cruising comforts, making it a fast, exciting daysailer/racer rather than a family cruiser.
