Description
The Cascade 38 (often referred to in listings as a Cascade Center Cockpit around 38–44 ft LOA) is a rare, semi-custom center-cockpit bluewater cruiser from Cascade Yachts (Yacht Constructors Inc., Portland, Oregon). Built in the 1980s (e.g., notable 1987 examples), it draws from the same legendary "bulletproof" solid fiberglass construction as other Cascades—hand-laid, overbuilt hulls (no core, famously durable from extreme tests and real-world abuse like drops, groundings, or highway incidents). This model emphasizes comfort and protection with its center cockpit layout (secure helm, separation of living/sailing areas), making it excellent for extended coastal/offshore cruising, liveaboard use, or family voyages in varied weather. It's not a mass-produced boat—many were owner-finished or customized, leading to unique interiors and occasional length variations (some listed as 38–44 ft due to bowsprit or extensions). It retains the series' stiff, seaworthy character with good motion comfort and proven reliability.
