Cape Dory 30 Mk Ii
Description
The Cape Dory 30 Mk II is a robust American coastal cruiser sailboat designed in-house by Clive M. Dent and built by Cape Dory Yachts in East Taunton, Massachusetts, from 1986 to 1990, with around 60 hulls produced as an evolution of the original Carl Alberg-designed Cape Dory 30. Measuring 30 feet 6 inches in length overall (with a waterline length of 25 feet), it features a heavier fiberglass hull with a long keel (draft 4 feet 10 inches) for enhanced stability and tracking, a beam of 9 feet 4 inches, displacement of 10,200 pounds, and a high ballast ratio of 40% (4,000 pounds of lead), resulting in a motion comfort ratio of 27.3 that outperforms 73% of similar designs in seakeeping. Available primarily as a sloop with an optional cutter rig for versatile sail handling, it offers a modern, roomier interior than its predecessor, sleeping up to six with a V-berth forward, U-shaped galley, saloon with convertible settees, navigation station, and enclosed head, all finished in teak for a traditional yet functional layout.
