C&C 33 Mk Ii

Description

An entirely new design (no shared tooling with the Mark I), the Mark II was lighter and more modern, responding to shifting market demands for easier handling and better light-wind performance. Production totaled around 200 units, with options for fin keel, shoal-draft fin, or keel/centerboard configurations. It was built during C&C's financial challenges, including a 1985 bankruptcy, but benefited from the company's reputation for innovation, such as balsa-cored hulls and solid rod rigging. The Mark II's introduction coincided with a push toward PHRF handicap racing, where it quickly gained traction.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
