Caliber 28
Description
The Caliber 28 is a classic American coastal cruiser and pocket bluewater sailboat designed by Michael McCreary. Built by Caliber Yachts in Clearwater, Florida, starting in 1981 (with limited production likely through the mid-1980s), only a handful of hulls were produced—estimates suggest 10–20 based on market scarcity. It features a moderate-displacement fin keel with spade rudder for responsive handling and tracking, solid hand-laid fiberglass construction (with balsa-cored deck for stiffness), and a masthead sloop rig suited to daysailing, weekends, or short passages. Known for its rugged build, good upwind performance in 10–20 knots, and surprising stability for its size, it's a solid entry-level cruiser for couples or small families.
