Buccaneer 270
Description
The Buccaneer 270 is a compact, family-oriented trailerable cruiser designed by Bob Neck and Clark Scarboro in the mid-1970s for Bayliner Marine Corp (under their Buccaneer division). Produced from 1975 to around 1979, it's a production fiberglass sailboat aimed at recreational sailors seeking an affordable, roomy day-sailer or weekend cruiser for lakes, bays, or protected coastal waters. With a boxy, high-freeboard hull reminiscent of the era's "wedding cake" designs, it prioritizes interior space and ease of trailering over high performance, accommodating 2-4 people comfortably for overnights. The 270 is essentially the outboard-powered variant of the Buccaneer 275 (which featured an inboard diesel), sharing the same hull but optimized for lighter weight and simpler maintenance. Approximately 200-300 units were built, and it's noted for holding value well due to its solid construction and dedicated owner community.
