Brise de Mer 31
Description
The Brise de Mer 31 is a classic French sailboat, a monohull cruising racer designed by the Groupe Finot (Jean-Marie Finot and team) in the early 1970s. Built by the Chantiers Le Guen-Hémidy shipyard in Carentan, Normandy, France, from 1970 to 1982, around 110 units were produced. It was originally conceived as a competitive IOR Half Ton Cup boat but became popular as a fast, seaworthy cruiser. The hull is constructed in aluminum (with some fiberglass elements in places), making it lightweight, durable, and impact-resistant compared to fiberglass boats of the era—though older ones require careful inspection for weld fatigue or corrosion.
