Description
The Breeze Baby is a classic 12-foot (3.66 m) sailing dinghy designed by William D. Jackson in the mid-20th century, with plans originally published in The Model Engineer or similar boatbuilding magazines. This simple, car-toppable daysailer was crafted for amateur builders seeking an affordable, versatile craft for family outings, youth sailing, or light racing on lakes, ponds, or sheltered harbors. Its lapstrake plywood hull offers a traditional aesthetic with modern ease, accommodating a cat rig for solo or duo handling, and it's also compatible with 2–3 hp outboard motors for auxiliary power. The design emphasizes quick construction over temporary mold frames (removed post-planking), resulting in a spacious, frame-free interior for easy movement. Production was plan-based rather than factory-built, with hundreds of examples constructed by DIY enthusiasts since the 1950s–1960s. Today, it's a nostalgic favorite for vintage boat restorations, praised for its stability and portability. Mainsail -Luff=14' - Leach=15'9" - Foot(loose)=9' - Leach Roach=5" - Foot Roach=3".
