Beneteau Oceanis 38
Description
The Beneteau Oceanis 38 (often shortened to Oceanis 38) is a popular 38-foot French cruiser from Beneteau's Oceanis line, built from 2013 to 2017 (replaced by the Oceanis 38.1 in 2017). Designed by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design (naval architecture) with interior styling by Nauta Design, it was marketed as a versatile family cruiser-racer with excellent balance between performance, comfort, and ease of handling—ideal for coastal cruising, weekending, or light offshore passages. It came in three main configurations: Daysailer — stripped-out racer-cruiser (minimal interior, open layout). Weekender — basic cruising setup (2 cabins, 1 head). Cruiser — full family version (3 cabins, 2 heads, larger galley). The boat features a modern hull (wide beam carried aft for stability and volume), twin rudders (for better control and shallow draft options), and a fractional sloop rig with in-mast furling or classic slab-reefing mainsail. It's known for lively sailing (good light-air speed, responsive helm, dry cockpit) and spacious, bright interiors (large coachroof windows, good headroom).
