Beneteau First 30 By Mauric
Description
The Beneteau First 30 is the original model that launched Beneteau’s legendary First performance line in 1977. Designed by André Mauric—the French naval architect behind France’s 1974 America’s Cup challenger France and the revolutionary IOR racer Pen Duick VI—this 30-footer was a breakthrough in production cruiser-racing, blending IOR racing DNA with family-friendly cruising. Only ~300 units were built before it was replaced by the First 30E (Berret, 1981). Mauric’s design philosophy: light, fast, seaworthy, and affordable. The First 30 was one of the first mass-produced yachts to bring one-tonner racing performance to weekend sailors, with a sleek hull, tall fractional rig, and minimal interior—yet still offering 6 berths and a functional galley.
