Arrow Catamaran (Arafura)

Description

Designed in 1963 by Neil Fowler and Roy Martin in Darwin, Northern Territory, as one of the earliest lightweight catamarans. It was created for easy home construction using basic tools and materials, targeting amateur builders. Initially all-timber, it was updated in 1977 with aluminum beams and a trampoline deck for reduced maintenance. In the late 1980s, foam-sandwich fiberglass hulls were introduced for durability and minimal upkeep. The design prioritizes planning performance on reaches, with reported speeds up to 20 knots.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
