Alerion 38
Description
The Alerion Express 38 is a premium fiberglass sailboat designed by Carl Schumacher for Alerion Yachts, introduced in 1997 as a flagship model in the Alerion Express series, with approximately 50–75 units built through the early 2000s. Drawing inspiration from Nathanael Herreshoff’s 1912 Alerion III, it features a fractional sloop rig (yawl variant available), fin keel with bulb, spade rudder, raked stem, and graceful counter stern with springy sheer. Equipped with a Hoyt Jib Boom for effortless single-handing and powered by an inboard diesel (typically Yanmar 3GM30, 27–30 hp) with wheel steering, it blends classic aesthetics with modern performance for coastal cruising and extended daysailing.
