Alerion Express 19

Description

The Alerion Express 19 is a compact, trailerable fiberglass catboat designed by Garry Hoyt and built by TPI Composites from 1998 to the early 2000s, with approximately 50–100 units produced. Drawing from 19th-century New England catboats, it features a single-masted gaff rig with a self-vanging boom, daggerboard, dagger rudder, and wide beam for stability and shallow-water access. Powered by an optional outboard (2–4 hp in a well), with tiller steering, it’s optimized for single-handed day sailing with effortless handling and sprightly acceleration. Its lightweight construction and modern innovations address traditional catboat drawbacks like poor upwind performance and reefing complexity, making it ideal for beginners or experienced sailors seeking simplicity and fun.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
