Achilles 24

Description

The Achilles 24 is a compact fiberglass cruiser-racer sailboat designed by Oliver Lee and built by Butler Mouldings Ltd. in Furth, near Bristol, England, starting in 1968. It’s a smaller sibling to the Achilles 9m, sharing the same robust construction and offshore-capable design ethos, but tailored for coastal cruising, club racing, and occasional single-handed sailing. Known for its seaworthiness, the Achilles 24 features a narrow hull, encapsulated fin keel, and a masthead sloop rig, offering a balance of speed, stability, and affordability. Approximately 600 were built until the mid-1980s, many as home-completion kits, leading to varied interiors. Its epoxy-laminated hull below the waterline resists osmosis, a hallmark of Butler’s quality.
