Abbott 28
Description
The Abbott 28 is a classic fiberglass racer-cruiser designed and built by Bill Abbott Sr. of Abbott Boats Inc. in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Introduced in 1964, it was the second model in Abbott's line of performance-oriented sailboats, following the Abbott 22. Abbott Boats began in the 1960s by producing wooden Nordic Folkboats and Dragons before transitioning to fiberglass construction for their signature racer-cruisers. The Abbott 28 embodies the era's emphasis on lightweight, agile designs for club racing and coastal cruising, with sleek lines and a narrow hull for speed. Only a small number were produced, making it somewhat rare today.
