20' Spritsail - Dorothy
Description
The 20' Spritsail - Dorothy is a traditional small craft sailboat designed by John Gardner, a renowned American boatbuilder and historian known for his work preserving and documenting classic wooden boat designs. This sailboat is featured in Gardner’s book Building Classic Small Craft and is part of his efforts to provide detailed plans for amateur boatbuilders. The Dorothy is a spritsail-rigged vessel, characterized by its simple, four-sided sail supported by a diagonal sprit, offering a clear deck and ease of handling. The Lugsail rig is shown here. There was also a jib and spritsail rig as indicated below.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
